Since 1995, Myongji Educational Foundation has been collecting Korea-related books, maps, documents from all over the world. Procurement of excessive and invaluable materials has been possible with financial support of LG Yonam Cultural Foundation. Eventually the whole collection turned into "Myongji-LG Korean Studies Library" to commemorate the joint effort of the two institutions. The library collection includes many precious rare books dealing with Korea. Some of them were published during so-called great Age of Exploration of the west. The specialized collection gathers attention from both scholars and general public alike.

The database of "Myongji-LG Korean Studies Library" contributes to the development of related studies as well as national information. That is, "Myongji-LG Korean Studies Library" is an educational site intended to find a way to enhance Korean Studies and to promote national pride in the global era.

Myongji University established its full-text database of rare books in western languages in 2005 and upgraded it twice, respectively in 2006 and 2010. This projet was sponsored by National Information Society Agency as a way to strengthen the nations' Digital Competency. Myongji-LG Korean Studies Library's digital database provides users with full-text images of 638 old books in western languages along with their indexes, tables of contents in Korean and full bibliographic information. Users can also access to the digital database with indexed terms retrieval system. Now the library on-line system provides full-text images of about 30% of the major collection through national portal service. In addition, mobile web service is possible for some full-text images of about 70 illustrations and 120 photographs.
